The Barbee Lakes consist of 7 interconnected, natural lakes in northeastern Indiana’s Kosciusko County. The names of these lakes are Big Barbee Lake, Little Barbee Lake, Kuhn Lake, Irish Lake, Sawmill Lake, Sechrist Lake, and Banning Lake. The lakes have a combined surface area of 855 acres and were formed by retreating glaciers. All 7 of the lakes are stocked with bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch, muskie, catfish, and crappies. This makes these lakes prime fishing locations.
Big Barbee Lake is the largest of the seven lakes and has no speed limit for boating, unlike the other 6 lakes. This makes Big Barbee Lake perfect for water sports such as Jet Skiing. The lake has a surface area of 304 acres. The lake is located 40 miles from Fort Wayne, Indiana, making it close to Parkview Medical Center, and the Fort Wayne International Airport. The lake is lined with cottages and homes, making it a great place to live if you are looking for a lakeside view from your home. Homes on this lake are apart of the Wawasee School District, including North Webster Elementary, Wawasee Middle School, and Wawasee High School.
